RTM | Top 4 MHSAA Regional Semi-Final Match-Ups (Boys)

These four MHSAA Boy's Basketball Regional Match-Ups will have some of the Top teams in the state facing off this week on Tuesday March 30th.

Warren De La Salle (11-3) vs. Detroit King (15-2)

Regional #7 | 7pm @ Warren De La Salle

This is the TOUGHEST region in the state! Potentially four of the MHSAA D1 Top 10 teams are all in the same region. Detroit King comes off beating a tough Hamtramck team in their district and also winning the Detroit Public School District City Championship. King is led by Top 2022 PG Chansey Willis Jr. and Omar Zeigler Jr. Warren De La Salle comes into the region after beating Warren Mott in their district Semi-final (Final was forfeited). De La Salle plays a tough schedule in the Catholic and is led by guard Linden Holder and wing Triston Nichols. This game will be an all-out slugfest and whoever scores 60 first will win. RTM Pick: King

Detroit U-D Jesuit (10-0) vs. Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice (8-4) Regional #7 | 5pm @ Warren De La Salle

The UDJ Cubs had quite the route to get to this match-up. After an impossible 4-pt play with no time left gets them the edge over Oak Park in double OT, they barely get by Detroit Renaissance after a controversial no-call to end the game and District Final. Cubs will play a Brother Rice team they beat twice this season, most recently at the buzzer for the Catholic League Championship. Brother Rice rolls into this regional after beating Birmingham Seaholm in a District Final. Detroit U-D Jesuit is led by Sonny Wilson, one of the Top 2023 guards in the State. Class of 2022 Shooting Guard Charles Turner has burned Brother Rice twice with his shooting and 2022 wing Chris Mutebi gives them some toughness inside. Brother Rice is led by Top 2023 national prospect Courtney Williams, 2023 Guard Johnathan Blackwell and 2023 Forward Xavier Thomas. The Cubs luck runs out in this matchup especially trying to beat a team 3 times in one short season. Expect a big game from Curtis Williams. RTM Pick: Brother Rice

Orchard Lake St. Mary's (12-0) vs. Clarkston (14-3)

Regional #2 | 7:15pm @ White Lake Lakeland

Traditionally, two the top Basketball programs in recent history face off in this matchup. With Clarkston being Back-to-Back State Champs in 2017 & 2018 and Orchard Lake St. Mary's whose title hopes were cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic last season with a 21-1 record. Clarkston is led by 2022 guard Keegan Waasik. He is the engine that makes them go. If he can control tempo and find a way to make shots is the only way they stay in this game. Orchard Lake St. Mary's is loaded and there wont be too many teams beating them. Led by 2022 guard Kareem Rozier, 2021 wing Julian Roper (Northwestern commit) and 2021 Shooting Guard Will Smythe, Orchard Lake rolls. RTM Pick: Orchard Lake St. Mary's

Grand Rapids South Christian (17-2) vs. Grand Rapids Catholic Central (15-0) Regional #7 | 5:00pm @ GR South Christian

Should be a top match-up for the Westside of the state with this match-up. Grand Rapids South Christian is led by Conner Dykema and Jake DeHaan. Both are Seniors who are not willing to see their season end just yet. Grand Rapids Catholic Central is led by Jack Karasinski who is a top 2022 wing prospect. This game will be a battle of wills. Catholic Central has beaten this team twice this season but only by one possession in both games. If South Christian can find a way to slow down Jack Karasinski, they will be in the game. Expect Jack to have a big showing or they will be going home fishing. RTM Pick: Grand Rapids Catholic Central
